ENCOURAGE CONFIDENCE THROUGH PARTICIPATION

Child & Youth Sports Guidance

Encourage movement, confidence and positive participation.

Conceptual illustration of learning and growth

Listen to the young person

Start with the activities they enjoy and what they would like to try. A discussion about confidence, preferences and practical needs helps families consider options without making achievement or selection the only measure of value.

Consider a balanced routine

Look at how an activity fits alongside education, rest, family life and other interests. Consider travel, costs and the expectations of participation when deciding whether an option is manageable for the young person and their family.

Ask informed questions

Before choosing a provider, ask about staff qualifications, safeguarding arrangements, supervision and communication with parents or guardians. For medical, injury or individual fitness concerns, seek advice from an appropriately qualified professional.

Questions, answered

Is this a sports academy or a guarantee of team selection?

This page concerns guidance enquiries. It does not promise coaching places, scholarships or selection. Ask IIKAS to confirm the exact scope of any support and the identity of any external provider being discussed.

What should a parent or guardian share initially?

Share the young person's general age range, interests and the kind of guidance you need. Avoid sending photographs, identification documents or detailed health information until the purpose, recipient and appropriate consent process are clear.
